Essendon are up and about at the moment. They are full of confidence and are playing with a new lease on life. James Hird and the new coaching staff have done very well with this young group so far. But make no mistake Hird and Thompson will not be getting ahead of themselves. Carlton is a big scalp they want. Traditional rivals will pack out the MCG for what should be a beauty!
For me though although Carlton were respectable last week against the Magpies I still feel they are a key back and a genuine key forward short. I think both midfields match up pretty well but it's these key posts that will see the Blues come unstuck. Fletcher and Ryder or Hurley at either ends will provide that class in the key posts to give the Bombers the edge and the win. Essendon by about 15pts.
