Welcome all..... I live in Australia and have been punting on Sports for the past 6 years. Looking forward to another sucessful year in 2013...... I enjoyed another sucessful Campaign in 2012 which was my 2nd year posting here. Detailed results can be seen below.

I bet on the AFL , NRL as well as US Basketball, the NBA & NCAA CBB. Here I will post my plays as a record with regular write ups. It is most important that you create a Twitter account and follow me @baywatchbets as all my plays are posted there first then followed up with a detailed post here. Be sure to follow twitter below!!!

FOLLOW TWITTER

I play on ML, ATS, Quarters, Halves, Doubles and occasionally on Player Exotics. My goal is to hit close to 60%. However 53% will give a nice profit.

I bet in units. Though out the seasons I will play x1 unit, x1.5 units, x2 units and on occasions huge x3, x4 & even x5 unit plays! On average x1 unit should be 3.5% of your bankroll so adjust accordingly. This is very important as we are investing not gambling!

So for example your x1 unit may be to win $100, so I bet $110 @ odds of 1.91. Betting at these odds your unit outlay would be:

x1 unit play - $110 to win $100

x1.5 unit play - $165 to win $150

x2 unit play - $220 to win $200 etc.

I adjust the amount I bet according to the odds taken. for example playing x1 unit @ odds of 1.85 I then have to up my bet to $115 to win $100 and so on.

Patience and Bankroll management is the key.

Good luck all and enjoy the ride....

SATURDAY

Brisbane @ Melbourne
ATS - DEMONS -14.5 (x1) LOSS

The Melbourne and AFL community are mourning the loss of an AFL and Melbourne great, Jim Stynes! This opening match against the Lions at the MCG give the players an outlet to release some of the emotion and loss they are all feeling. This Melbourne group has been disappointing over the past 5 years and I feel they are some what lucky to draw the Brisbane Lions now minus Jonathon Brown. This and the home ground advantage give the young Demons the upper hand here.

If ever this young group had a motivating factor to get this season off in a positive fashion it's right now! The loss of the man whole put everything into this club for all these boys has just past and I expect Melbourne to want to give the fans and Jimmy a good show! Demons win by 5 goals!

Adelaide @ Gold Coast
ATS - CROWS -22.5 (x2) WIN

New Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson couldn't have asked for a better preparation leading into round 1 of his first season as AFL head coach. Having just won the NAB cup and with a full list to pick from, the Crows are cherry ripe!

They travel to the Gold Coast to take on the out Suns whole themselves will be keen to taste victory a few more times in 2012. However having won just 3 games last year and missing key big man Bock, the task will be to much for this young team still finding their feat. The Crows will win this game comfortably. 10 goals!

Boston Celtics At Minnesota Timberwolves
ML - CELTICS PK (x1.5) WIN

Boston will travel to Minnesota tonight to take on the injury riddled Timberwolves. A team it has beaten the last 9 times! The Wolves will be missing Rubio, Berea, Beasley and big Petrovic for this one. While the Allstar and leader K.Love is in MVP kind of form right now he will need some help here against the tough defensive minded Celtics.

With limited offensive threats, the Celtics will be able to focus in on Love and limit his influence. On the flip side Ridnor will find it difficult to contain Rondo's play making ability on the other end. I expect Rondo to set up the likes of Pierce, KG, Bass and possibly Ray Allen all night! Celtics have to many weapons here and catch the Wolves at the right time. They make it 10 in a row tonight!
(1.75u @ 1.86 @ Betfair)

Dallas Mavericks At Orlando Magic
1st Q - MAGIC -1.5 (x1) WIN
Orlando were down right disgraceful last start in NY! Embarrassing! They get the chance to redeem themselves here against Dallas at home. The Magic have bounced back well from a loss in recent times and do play significantly better on their home floor. They catch the Mavs on b2b here also after Dallas was handed a 20pt beating at the home of Miami. Not sure how they respond straight up here. These spots are particularly tough for the older teams.

Orlando are a front running team, no question. They do start well at home and the Mavs are not so great in the opening quarters on the road! I expect Dwight in particular to be aggressive and set the tone for the day early! Orlando will be extra keen to erase that last performance from every one's memory and get off to a fly er in front of their home fans!

ROUND 5 - FRIDAY NIGHT
Newcastle @ Melbourne
HT/FT - STORM/STORM (x1)Win

Rolling with the Storm again this week and how  can you not! They have been the stand out side of the opening month once again. This group and organisation will be buoyed by the announcement the Cooper Cronk is staying and has resigned for a further 4 years. I expect the players to start and finish just as they have so far this season!

St.George @ Brisbane
ATS - DRAGONS +4.5 (x1) LOSS

Brisbane got out of jail last week against the Bunnies, and in doing so suffered another injury hit with Yow Yeh out for the year after a sickening break of his lower leg. This adds to Parker who is still on the sidelines. This Broncos team has been impressive to start life after Lockyer but now have 2 more regular players missing.

The Dragons are a solid group. You know what your going to get. They are hard a tough in the forwards and with Nightingale and Morris down back look more solid than ever! Sowards kicking game will continue to pressure the young Broncos backs and I see this one being a tight battle right to the end! Dragons could pinch it!

ROUND 1 - THURSDAY NIGHT

Carlton @ Richmond
1st Q - TIGERS (x0.5) WIN

The Season gets under way tonight with the traditional 1st up clash between the Tigers and the Blues. Richmond supporters are full of voice and will really fancy their chances of turning the tide against the Blues who have dominated this match in recent years.

The Blues are clearly under done. Failing to win a match during the entire NAB cup campaign. This is mainly due to injuries and tonight this proud club will be missing a few key players yet again. Jameson, Duigan will miss from the Blues back half, and Laidler, Waite will  be under done. Warnock will also miss adding extra pressure to the comeback of Kruezer. While Walker will also miss which adds a blow to the Blues forward structure.

Richmond on the other hand are showing significant improvements in the small glimpses we have seen so far this year. I know it is only  the NAB cup but this has giving this young group a huge boost in confidence. So with all this in mind I love the Tigers to start this one well! Weather they can sustain for the entire match I'm not sold but they are every chance to start season 2012 with a bang! Richmond to lead after the opener!
(0.4u @ 2.2 @ Sportingbet)

FRIDAY NIGHT
Collingwood @ Hawthorn
ML - HAWKS PK (x1) WIN

Collingwood's story is similar to Carlton's this pre season. Injuries everywhere! The Magpies will enter this new fase under Bucks without their skipper Maxwell, Tarrant, Brown from their back half. Wellingham, Johnson and Wood from their Midfield and Didak and Beams from their forward half! Not to mention season ending injuries to Krak and McCaffer! Not ideal, especially against the Premiership favourite red hot Hawks!

Hawthorn will still be stinging from letting last years prelim final slip to Collingwood make no mistake! The Hawks just look primed and should take the points and get a little revenge back on the Pies!

AFL 2012 Preview

The season is upon us and I cannot wait! Here are some of my thoughts on the teams and a top 8!

Premiership contenders:
HAWKS
Team to beat in 2012 IMO. They will be hungrier than ever with Roughhead back will be right there come september!
PIES
No secret here, still tone of talent and losing last year will prove a driving force! Injury setbacks and new head coach has me thinking may not be as dominate early? But betting against them is madness!
BLUES
This side has done the hard yards and is coming of age! Judd, Murphy, Gibbs will all perform but for me A fit Kruz and Waite are the key!
CATS
I expect them to be there abouts again, but with huge personnel changes have to drop off a little! Love the kids coming through though and Selwood is a born leader. Never bet against these boys at home!
DOCKERS
This side has all the talent in the world, disappointing last year but were crucified by injuries! Barlow, Sandilands, Moribito all back and healthy. I expect Ross Lyon to give this flashy exciting team a touch of hardness! Love them to be the big improvers in 2012!
EAGLES
Will again figure in September action and if all goes to plan as did last year may slip into top 4. I think they caught the league off guard last year after finishing bottom 2010. Others will be ready and the Eagles may not have it all their own way 2012?

ALL OTHERS
SWANS
Will always give 100% and should fight it out for the 6-8 spots
SAINTS
New coach, aging stars, not a huge amount coming through, although we havent seen many as yet. I expect a bit of change here. Wouldn't surprise to see the Saints fall a little this year.
KANGAS
This year this group will break through! Love the list and the use of Goldy, HMac and Petrie intrigues. Can they all play in the same 22? Good decision to have! Love the mids with new leader Swallow, Wells, Ziebel, Attly, Cunnington, Bastinac! Look for some much deserved smiles in the Nth camp this year!
DEMONS
Who really knows? This group was suppose to be the next force! Still waiting? They took a huge step backwards last year and I expect them to improve I don't see them being a real threat! 8-10
TIGERS
Another year older for this young group and finals? Not quite but will prove a handful for some. On the up!
BULLDOGS
They will welcome some stars back Cooney and Lake but will look to their kids to step up now without Hall and Hudson moving on. Patience is needed with new coach on board. They slide a little for mine. 10 - 12.
BOMBERS
Again hard to say? They came out full of energy with new coach in 2011 but fell away. A young team will do this. They didn't add anything really so steady improvement is expected. Dempsey and Winderlich a big ins. Top 8? Maybe?
CROWS
Could be a bit of a sleeper? Much like WCE last season. Like the kids and new coach will add toughness! If can turn the trip to SA into a tough one for all teams will have a nice run at the 8! Home ground is the key! Wait n see with this lot? Maybe next year?
BRISSY
improvement? Definitely! Voss is doing now what he should have 2 years ago! Now has stars Brown and Black aging very quickly! Will win more than last year but not a real threat.
POWER / SUNS / GIANTS
Not this year! Spoon anyone?

Saying all that my final 8 will be:

HAWKS
PIES
CATS
DOCKERS
BLUES
SWANS
EAGLES
KANGAS

Freo in the 4? I think they might surprise a few. SAINTS / BOMBERS just miss out! Can't wait for the season to begin!

Boston Celtics At Los Angeles Clippers
1ST Q - CLIPPERS -1.5 (x1) LOSS

Sticking with an all time favorite today, Clippers to burst out of the blocks against the fatigued Celtics. Boston is on b2b games here and played a tough physical battle against the Lakers last night. This veteran team has not backed up well in the past and are not great starters in general.

The Clippers also played last night losing a close one to the Warriors. However this team is just fantastic in the opening quarter, especially at home! The Clippers also respond well off a loss and I expect a good start here tonight. Clippers to cover the bucket and take a nice 5-8 point lead into the 1st change.

ATS - WARRIORS -4 (x1.5) WIN

Big news today is Hindy is OUT! this is huge as he is their on field leader. Parramatta were awful last week against the Broncos, and in a game full of errors were lucky not to  be blown away! The Warriors also had their issues holding the ball, but looked much better against the reigning premiers Manly.

Jarryd Hayne looks certain to return but for me the Warriors just have to much talent! Look for Meteo to have a big one against his former club and I like New Zealand to cover here quite comfortably! Warriors by 14!

ATS - NUGGETS -6 (x1) LOSS

Fading Memphis here on b2b road games. coming off a tough loss in Phoenix it will be tough to back up in Denver. The starters for Memphis clocked up big minutes last night so a big fatigue spot here. Denver has lost its past two games to Memphis this season by 1pt in both games. Revenge is also on the cards here for the Nuggets. Denver take this one.

Atlanta Hawks At Sacramento Kings
ML - HAWKS (x1.5) WIN

Atlanta has just missed in its first two games of this road trip, falling short to both Miami and Detroit. They were a chance to win both. Expect a solid effort to notch up that road win here in Sac Town. Joe Johnson will be better 2nd game back and with the Kings ranked last in defense, this is the perfect spot for the Hawks to find their rhythm! Atlanta wins this SU!

2nd H - STORM -3.5 (x2) WIN

Melbourne will play their first game at AMMI park of the season today and will be looking to put on a good show for their home town! Melbourne have been a terrific starting team over the years and I see no reason for that to change here today, especially on their home track!
Souths somehow managed to let their first game slip against the Roosters. Leading by 8 with under 4 minutes to go. Still not sure how that happened. Now they must travel to Melbourne and regroup. Souths have one if the biggest packs in the game with Burgess, Asotasi, Crocker and big Dave Taylor! As with the Raiders this could see holes open up for Smith, Cronkite and Slater to work with. Billy scored 2 tries against the Raiders, while one was a freak over head catch to win the game, the 1st was exploiting a gap opened up by Smith and Cronk around the Raiders forwards. Look for much the same today!

With a young half back trying to contain Cooper Cronk, I like The Storm to catch them early! Storm take a 6-10 pt lead into the sheds at the half!

Fading the Blazers here. 3rd game in the road and on b2b. Portland are 5-14 on the road and 4-9 on b2b games. Coming off a hiding last night in Boston, quite simply they shouldn't be laying this much to anyone in this spot. While Washington are no world beaters, they are well rested and fresh off a big win over the Lakers they will have a spring in their step. Wall will provide plenty of head aches for Portland and may even guide his team to victory. Wizards keep his one close at home.

Utah Jazz At Philadelphia 76ers
1ST H - 76ERS -3.5 (x1.5) LOSS

The Sixers got their groove back last start, belting the Celtics by 30+ points here at home! There is no question this team likes to light it up at home. A win like that will do the world of good to the confidence of all the Sixers players. Those who have had form issues or doubts on their game, these will be gone!

Off the back off such a win, look for Phili to carry that energy over here tonight against the Jazz! Utah are a terrible traveling team. Just 5-13 on the road. Right now Utah are just into their 2nd of a huge road trip. This could be a long week for the Jazz. To add to this match, Phili will be looking for a little revenge as Utah beat the Sixers earlier this year.

I like the Sixers to start well tonight and take control of Utah at home. Phili to lead by double digits at the half.
(1.65u @ 1.90 @ Centrebet)

Portland Trail Blazers At Boston Celtics
ATS - CELTICS -2.5 (x2) WIN

Love the Celtics here at home tonight against Portland! Boston were embarrassed last start in Phili, losing badly to the Sixers on the road. Besides this hiccup, Boston has actually been in reasonable form, winning 5 straight! The main reasons for this is they are almost healthy! This team has had all its important pieces missing at some point this season. But with all starters fit for tonight I like this proud group to respond well!

On the flip side, Portland are awful on the road! Winning just 5-13! The Blazers are Playing just their 2nd of a huge 8 game road trip. This will be a testing time for Portland! With the uncertainty around the point guard position, Felton, Crawford ? Rondo will have a field day!

I see a fit Celtics team looking to respond at home to be to good tonight against a struggling road team in Portland! Celtics get this one by 10+!

The Lakers begin a 3 game road trip in Detroit tonight coming off a big win over Miami last start. Kobe is in a zone right now but what's new? Well he finally had some well needed support with MWP finally deciding to show up! World Piece was great against the Heat, both defensively and offensively. This will give him a huge confidence boost and it will be interesting to see how he performs next up?

Although LA doesnt have a great road record they have has won it past 5 against the Pistons. Including 3 at the Palace. Kobe has a great record up against Detroit and I wonder how they limit his scoring? Tough one! The Lakers have a big advantage with their big men also, Gasol and Bynum will be too much for young star Munroe to contain. I don't see LA having any trouble scoring tonight and should get plenty of easy second chance points also with their dominance on the glass.
The Lakers have finally arrived and will be full of confidence. Bad news for Detroit. I see LA winning by double digits on the road tonight!

Indiana Pacers At Chicago Bulls
1st H - BULLS -3.5 (x1) LOSS
ADDED
2ND H - BULLS -4 (x1) WIN

I like the Bulls to come out firing here at home tonight! This is a huge Revenge match for Chicago as Indiana beat them last start nd really let them know about it. D.Rose doesn't forget, here's a direct quote "I'll never forget how they celebrated just from winning this game. I can't wait to play them again," Rose said.

Indiana have won 6 in a row. Pretty good form right? Well look closer at who they actually beat. The Nets and Warriors both at home, plus the Hornets and Bobcats twice! Hardly the force of the NBA there? While winning form is good form it can also be a little misleading.
Sure the Bulls are on b2b games after a close win in Phili, but they are 10-2 in this spot! I like the 1st half in particular because of a slight fatigue spot for Chicago, plus the fact they are terrific starters. 7 pts is a fair bit to lay for the whole game but -3.5 for the 1st half looks good! Especially for a fired up D.Rose looking for revenge! Bulls lead well at the half tonight!

New Jersey Nets At Charlotte Bobcats
ATS - NETS -2 (x1.5) WIN
New Jersey are almost healthy, having Lopez back is a huge lift for this young team. Lopez as he has shown in his first few matches is a great low post threat and a real presence in the paint. Williams will love having Brook back in his side.

After an impressive win over Dallas a let down was always on the cards next up against Boston. Williams made the comment that to often this team has a poor performance following a loss. I expect him and his team to be pretty dirty on themselves and I expect a big lift here against the Bobcats.

Charlotte have been awful! There's no hiding it. They have won just 4 matches for the year and have struggled to stay with in double digits against everyone! They are very young and are rebuilding I get it, this year can't end quick enough. Bismack may also miss which won't help here against Lopez either. I expect Williams to put on a show. The Nets win comfortably!

Indiana Pacers At New Orleans Hornets
ATS - PACERS -5.5 (x2) WIN
Love the spot for the Pacers tonight up against the Hornets on the road! New Orleans is coming off a huge win for the club beating the NBA champs Dallas last night. For a team that is 9-27 and just 4-15 at home this is huge! Expect a huge letdown today folks.

To add to this angle the Hornets are playing b2b and 4th in 5 nights. Huge fatigue spot! Up against the well rested Pacers who have had 3 days off. I also see a huge advantage in the paint for Indiana. They are a terrific rebounding team with Hibberd, Hansbrough and West all very physical. West will have added motivation returning to is former home court for the 1st time.

The Hornets are still banged up missing Gordon, Okafor, Laundry, Smith and Ariza. Ariza may play tonight but 1st up off a long break he may be eased into the game. With all these injuries plus the huge minutes Jack, Kaman and Belinelli put up last night these Hornets will be off! Pacers win well tonight!

ROUND 1 - SUNDAY
MANLY @ NZ
ATS - WARRIORS -3.5 (x1.5) LOSS

I'm really big on the Warriors chances this year and I think they settle a score here against Manly in round 1. In case you didn't hear the Warriors were beaten in last years Grand Final by Manly. Now these Warriors have had a whole off season to think about that, they will be hungry to put that game well behind them and the best way to do that is take out some revenge and win the next chance you play!

Mt Smart is a tough place to play and These Warriors will take pride in defending their home ground. I expect young guns Locke and Johnson to only get better and Friend is a great get as he is just a workhorse!

I'm not sold on Manly for 2012, don't get me wrong I see them as a treat again but maybe a slight slip from their dominance in the last few seasons. A new voice could be a good thing but it may take time to get use too. Manly's prep for this one isn't ideal, having traveled to the UK then back to Aus and now off to NZ. Take the home side to win a cover. Warriors by 8!

*I know -2.5 is still around at some bookies but to me the that extra point doesn't serve that much difference. As we know key numbers here are 2 & 4. So either way falls into this bracket. How often do you see a game decided by 3? My point is which ever you take it is likely for you to win 4 or more will be the goal! I see value with the -3.5 @ 1.95 over -2.5 @ 1.85.

ROUND 1 - SATURDAY

Melbourne @ Canberra
ATS - STORM -4 (x1) WIN
Taking Melbourne to take care of the Raiders for my first selection of the 2012 season! Melbourne have been the bench mark for the competition for the past 5+ years, and while they have had their ups and definite downs I see them being a force once again! With arguably the best spine in the comp 1,6,7,9 in Billy Slater, Cam Smith and Cooper Cronk leading this side and the emergence of Widdop they simply have far to many weapons for the Raiders to contain.

Canberra had a season to forget in 2011 and will be keen to start this year off with a win at home but just have to many questions for mine this early. Campese will play but being his 2nd match in almost 2 years will be rusty! The Raiders do have a huge pack which should set the platform for Dugan and Campo to work but I see this as their downfall also. The Storm will be too quick and with the best play maker leading the way, Smith will pick his moments and expose the big blokes!

In what should be a good match I love the storm to win and cover the 4 here! Storm by 10.

Canterbury @ Penrith
ML - BULLDOGS PK (x1) WIN
The second of Saturdays triple header I like the Dogs under new Coach Hasler to be to good for the Panthers @ Centrebet stadium tonight! Same story as Canberra for Penrith. They were terrible last year and I expect a strong showing early on especially at home but Canterbury simply has more talent! A fresh voice and with leaders Ennis, Stagg, Tolman and Frank the Tank leading from the front I feel just have to much strike power. Graham is a great buy and he will give plenty once he comes off the bench.

To have a guy like Graham not starting shows the depth at the Bulldogs. Ben Barba is the X factor and he doesn't need much to slip under your guard. There is no question the Bulldogs need more out of their halves and with Hasler knowing Hodkinson very well I think he will get the best out of his young #7! While I expect the Panthers to be up for this one the value is with the Bulldogs at a pick! Dogs by 6.

Memphis Grizzlies At Toronto Raptors
ATS - GRIZZLES -3.5 (x1) LOSS

I like the way Memphis has been traveling lately. Winning 4 of last 5. Rudy Gay is staring while new All Star Gasol is taking his game to another level. I see this as a good match up for Memphis and Gasol in particular. Toronto are not very good. Plain and simple, and without any real presence in the middle with Bargnani out, Gasol will be hard to contain. Toronto will struggle to score tonight up against a great defensive team, Allen will lock down on DeRozan and Memphis will get a win on the road!

Miami Heat At Utah Jazz
1ST H - HEAT -2 (x1.5) LOSS

Miami is on fire! This team is running everybody off the court! Even with Bosh missing will be to much for Utah to contain. The Jazz have injury issues of their own as Bell is out and Millsap is doubtful. Bell out is a big hole as he is one who could limit Wades influence. Now not sure who takes Wade and LeBron? These two will do as they please.

Seeing the Heat are on b2b and traveling to Utah a bad spot for any team, I like the Heat in the 1st Half. Fatigue or simple resting of stars may come into play later in the game. Miami also has a big look ahead with the Lakers up next! Miami giving up just a bucket in the 1st half? Yep I'll take it!

Los Angeles Clippers @ Sacramento Kings
ATS - CLIPPERS -3.5 (x1) WIN

The Clippers let yet another big lead slip last start against the TWolves. This has been singled out by both the coach and Chris Paul "We must put teams away and close out games". While being on the wrong side of a few close ones lately, This is just what they do tonight!

I see the Clippers dominating the inside here on both ends. Griffin and Jordan will be to big a task for the emerging Cousins! The Kings are one of the worst teams this year in defending the paint. Both being scored against on the inside and rebounding. An area the Clippers excel in! I see CP3 setting up plenty of easy oportunities for his big men here!
With the recent close losses and a clear message from their coach and new leader, expect a focused side determined to put this game beyond doubt once in control! No more slip ups. Clippers cover!

Chicago Bulls At San Antonio Spurs
ATS - BULLS +2.5 (x1) WIN
I like the Bulls tonight playing in San Antonio. The Bulls head into this match healthy! This has been a rarity so far this season! Hamilton will play his 2nd game in a row after a long lay off and Rose put away any doubts over his back issues last night! While the Bulls are in a usual tough spot, being on b2b and on the road, This team seams to thrive on them! Chicago are a terrific traveling team and are 9-2 in b2b spots!

The Spurs are having a terrific team, but have been hit by injuries. Manu and Ford will again miss, and it would appear Leanord, Neal and Splitter are all unlikely tonight also! This will hurt especially up against a quality side like Chicago! I like a healthy Bulls side with a few points against the Injury hit Spurs tonight on the Road!
